Tai Chi Meditation brings about a more relaxed, peaceful and focused state of mind.
Cultivating a sense of unchanging stillness, Wu Chi, at the centre of your being is the essence of all Tai Chi Chuan no matter the style |

Tai Chi Exercise teaches us how to move and align ourselves effortlessly with gravity's unseen, but powerful force. Knowing how to connect the bones of the body, we can be as resilient as an oak tree. Being at one with the Tao we can yield like a blade of grass in the wind, bending but never loosing our ground. Taking care to balance Yin and Yang in all that we do, will bring vitality, happiness and longevity to all who practice the 'Supreme Ultimate'

Tai Chi as a Martial Art helps us to understand and deal effectively with energy of all kinds not just the energy of a punch or a kick. Whilst on a deeper level, working with a tai chi brother or sister will bring profound insights into the relationship between self and other.

What is Tai Chi?
The name Tai Chi means ‘Movement with awareness’.
A person practising Tai Chi is learning to let go of unhelpful postural and movement habits. This helps to make way for new, less effortful but more effective ways of moving through life.
First, we must begin to notice some of the deep unconscious holding patterns that bind us. Holding the breath, clenching the buttocks or hunching the shoulders are some of the more common examples. A movement done with excessive force or too much muscle tension is very much like trying to move a car with the breaks on. It limits freedom and wastes tremendous amounts of energy. More importantly, tension blocks chi flow, the body’s natural healing energy. This can lead to pain, sickness and even death.
The movements of Tai Chi are practised in a slow relaxed fashion. The aim is to gradually reprogramme muscle coordination. This releases unnecessary tension and opens blocked energy pathways. Tai Chi is a complete system. When practised diligently it will improve every aspect of what it is to be human.

Me & Tai Chi
My Tai Chi journey started in 1980 with John Kells at the British School of Tai Chi Chuan.
I give my heartfelt and eternal thanks to John and his senior student, Alan Peck for starting me on this amazing pathway of discovery.
Since then I have studied many other martial arts both for fun and for fitness. Along the way I have, encountered many great teachers. Not all have been martial arts masters, but all have shaped my Tai Chi practice and my understanding of the mind/body continuum.
My thanks go to the following wonderful human beings:

My thanks go to the following wonderful human beings:
- Akong Rimpoche with whom I took refuge into the Kagyu Tibetan Buddhist lineage,
- Dr. Ida P. Rolf for Structural Integration and for bravely revealing the 'fascial matrix' to the world, long before most were ready to listen.
- Hubert Godard for his insights into tonic function and its effects on human movement
- Ron Kurtz for Hakomi and the gift of Loving Presence and assisted mindfulness,
- Franklin Sills & Richard Holding for craniosacral osteopathy
- Sensei Mick Poole and my many other Judo Sensei
- Master Mauricio Robbie, Martin Dell, Kevin Chan, Nick Brooks for the beautiful art of Brazillian Jui Jitsu
My simple and sincere wish is to pass on the many blessings I have received
to the best of my ability, for the benefit of all beings.
